This blog is not a blog.
Well, it is a blog, I guess, but I’m not terribly interested in doing all of that standard blog stuff. I don’t feel any need to widely disseminate my opinions or share what’s going on in my head. The world ain’t ready for that.

Instead, my purpose is two-fold: Shameless self-promotion and mild amusement.

As for the shameless self-promotion: I write stuff. Other people pay me for it, so I can’t reproduce it here. But it’s available online, so I can and will provide links to it. Feel free to ignore those links, but reading that stuff’s the only way you’re going to get much in the way of reading material out this blog.

Now for the fun: Many moons ago, a group of co-workers and I would amuse ourselves with a game called “Song of the Day.” One person would select a theme. The other people would have to come up with songs to match that theme. We started with songs involving color words, back a little more than a decade ago when the Chillicothe Gazette was just beginning to use color photos on its front pages.

The game proved surprisingly entertaining, and sparked some really interesting conversations. So I’m hoping to recreate the fun here… at very least it’s an excuse to have a blog.

So, there it is — pardon me? You have a question? Oh, you want to know who or what ChaimTavi is? OK. Short version: Chaim (purposefully mispronounced CHAME) Tavi is a recurring character in my fiction. He’s annoying. You’d want to throttle him.

Years after I created the character, I realized that the name can be roughly translated as “Life is Good.” Aside from being a pretty cool sentiment, it’s mind-jarringly perfect for the character as originally envisioned. Yet it was entirely accidental on my part. So now I can give my novel the working title “Life Mispronounced.”

Oh, and certain people were at one time in the habit of referring to me as Chaim, but only when I was annoying and they wanted to throttle me… which was apparently most of the time. (That hurts, Kron.)

Onward, now: Your first Song of the Day theme is SONGS ABOUT NEW STUFF.
